IPCPR 2013
Here’s the second group of companies with which I was not entirely familiar before IPCPR 2013. Some are new to the market, some have longstanding histories, but are diversifying their offerings into the market with new/different introductions, and some simply intrigued or sparked some intangible feeling in me that they could become something great in the industry. More groups will follow in subsequent pages, and I will update all as I make it through the rotation to try their products personally…
Iconic Leaf (web: www.iconicleafcigar.com)
Iconic was actually the first stop I made at the show, and the first cigar I smoked. I mentioned it on Half Ashed that day, and truly enjoyed the new Sidewinder. They are already established, and are building a dedicated following, but were new to me (except for some press releases I’ve published in the past). I don’t believe I had smoked the earlier Recluse releases. The Sidewinder carries an Ecuadoran maduro Wrapper, proprietary binder, and Dominican/Brazilian/”Iconic Leaf” filler blend. Despite my normal tendencies toward smaller cigars the 7″ by 57 ring example I smoked was a fantastic smoke. With the added bonus of its having a unique shape that lends itself to cutter-free opening, I think it’s a definite hit that will do well on store shelves. It was loaded with toasty, dark flavors that are very appealing for me, and I’ll be buying them without a doubt. I’ll also be posting a full review once my remaining sample comes up in the queue. Look for them…buy them…try them. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
