Re: Big Day
I don't really think you'd want, or need, my reassurance of your character. Instead I'll leave you with an understanding that I've read, reacted and understood your comments for all they say directly and indirectly about you and each of us. Thanks for sharing them, Kip. Don't ever be afraid of that desire to be honest.

Yup. Kinda what Craig said, although a healthy case of "jackwagonness" is certainly appropriate when it's applied to friends or toward those who are certainly well-equipped to deal with it or those who simply deserve it. No, I don't (necessarily) mean Craig, myself, or afew others who frequent this site!

I suppose there are probable health advantages to a general lack of preservatives in most of my diet here, but it's bothersome that nothing keeps. Seems like we have a lot more waste these days. You almost have to make daily grocery runs or risk too much spoilage.

My wife won't buy organic bread for that reason. Frankly, I get creeped out when things stay in my cabinet for weeks on end. I can't stand fake "food".Kip wrote:I suppose there are probable health advantages to a general lack of preservatives in most of my diet here, but it's bothersome that nothing keeps. Exactly. I wish I lived somewhere that foods naturally grew. Anything organic or healthy ends up costing more than a house payment. We already pay more for crappy food than we do for our mortgage, if there was only a way to change that..........Costa Rica BABY !kurtdesign1 wrote:My wife won't buy organic bread for that reason. Kip, to your point; I too have come to an understanding with myself over the last year or so that my thoughts are not the best no matter if spoken or not. There are times I am embarrased myself. It is a tough road changing your mental mindset, but I know it can be done.
You seem to have a lot more good than bad in you as far as I have seen. I wouldn't worry, my friend.

Re: Big Day
Matthew looks to be headed for a direct hit across the western tip of Haiti as a *very* destructive storm. Thankfully, that area is somewhat sparsely populated....but those who are there have little protection and up to 40! inches of rain are coming. Except for a bit of time over land in Haiti and eastern Cuba, it'll mostly remain over water between Cuba and Hispaniola....which could be very, very bad for the Bahamas. It will probably go right over them as a major hurricane.
We're well away from landfall, and shouldn't see more than TS-force winds (Matthew has an extremely long reach) and a metric buttload of rain. We may be without power for a number of days, so if you don't hear from me by Friday don't be too worried

Hunker down Mr. Kip! Fill the bath tubs, the gas tank and the propane and prepare to hunker down. Hopefully you are on relatively high ground. Stay safe!

Not that I have any experience but this sounds like a pretty good idea. Plan ahead.CigarCity wrote:Hunker down Mr. Kip! Fill the bath tubs, the gas tank and the propane and prepare to hunker down. Hopefully you are on relatively high ground. Stay safe!
