Cigarro del dia - numero cinco

Whatever floats yer boat....as long as it's cigar related.

Yesterday and last night's cigars fared better. Two small sticks from my basement and then a Zino Platinum Chubby and a Padron 3000 worked pretty well, with the Padron being the star of the show. The whole "these cigars just aren't doing it" thing has happened once before, albeit several years ago. Tis but a phase, methinks, altho moving to the smaller latitudes certainly has its own charms...

Last nights Delight.

Hoyo Epi Esp Jan '14

In the sick period for sure. Harshness and bitterness up fron for the first 1/4. It then settled down into an ok cigar until the halfway point, then a light switch was turned on, and all those beautiful cuban flavors came pouring through.
This was THE BEST example I have ever smoked of a cigar that was decent, then hit the sick period and became acrid and almost unsmokable that I know of.
Nighty night rest of the box.

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. - Raul Julia

Last night's show cigar. Things are getting back to normal, palate-wise.

Last nights Delight.

Nat Sherman Epoca Robusto

Very strong "connie profile" with that sharp spice up front. About half way through it mellowed into a nice well rounded cigar, but unlike most Fridays, I was palate-fatigued and couldn't have a second.

Finally! An EPCarrillo cigar that I actually like. This was part of the sampler pack we (Kip, Nick, and I) were given after our tour of the EPC factory in the DR. This is the Ernesto's No. 1 Connecticut 2015. About 6.5 x 52. Not very strong, it's steady and flavorful.

I really enjoyed that smoke. Tonight was a DPG Serie JJ with some friends.

Last nights Delights.

Oliva O Robusto '14

I have had this kicking around since the beginning of 2014. Decided to light it as I had never had these before. I am not joking when I say I got very little definitive flavor....not even a tobacco flavor. There was smoke, there was fire, but there was no flavor. Weird.
This kept up until the last 1/3 where the Camaroon spice started to show up. It finished alright, but I won't be buying any.

Don Pepin JJ Maduro re-release

Pretty good. Just wasn't into this cigar for some reason. Normally I love these. It wasn't bad, I just didn't have that loving feeling like normal.

A pleasant, easy cigar that matched an easy winter day.
