The Ortega front is probably going to look a bit different in the near future, depending on how his new arrangement works out with Quality Importers. Tampa Humidor told me they couldn't move them, so they clearanced their stock at 40% off and dropped the line.

Brought this back from Slovakia. Tastes... okay, but definitely not worth the 21 Euro price tag. Only one (R y J #3) of the five different Cuban sticks I bought there was particularly good. Foo...

I'll be the first to admit, some people really do not care for Cuban tobacco flavors. Those people often tend to be N/C smokers who are comfortable & pleased by the profiles found in N/C tobacco. Cuban tobacco is a very, very different thing. It is more suave while potentiallly having more edges. It's hard to explain but probably has to do with milder overall tobacco strains while not being processed as long or gently as their alternatives.
There is also the fact that you are smoking cigars too young. Cuban cigars are notorious for needing to be smoked after a couple year rest. It's not universal, and it has changed a lot in the recent years but it is still more oft the case than with N/Cs, I find.

Here's to living life in the fond memories of others. May we all live forever in that happy & infinite realm.Kip wrote:Yesterday marked one year since my Dad passed away. I commemorated the day with the best thing I could scrounge up in my stash. Not the most expensive or rare, but these original Destinos really hit me just right. I wish beyond anything my Dad could have made a trip down here to hang with these kids. He'd have had the time of his life. Neither he nor they could have communicated a single word in exchange but they'd have loved each other's company.

That's kinda, sorta, pretty much, 100% exactly what I'm talking about...Kip wrote:Unless you include the Sungrown series and 858 Sungrown. Those are specific sizes and less widely available.

I agree, to a certain point. I do agree the profiles are different, and thus so are the smokers who enjoy each. I personally only like certain NC's and not all CC's. My NC selection focus' mainly towards cigars that are medium and deliniate more towards a Cuban profile, while I do seem to like the beefier Cuban profiles that push towards the stronger lines too. I am not a fan of the Cohiba Siglo line either as it is just too weak and not something I get many flavors from. Those RyJ tubos, you might as well just chuck those in my opinion. Worthless.kurtdesign1 wrote:I'll be the first to admit, some people really do not care for Cuban tobacco flavors. You have to smoke a few to know what you like.
Keep having fun with it.

3rd Crux so far and I'm impressed! Great Nica flavor without the harshness that can sometimes show up in certain brands/blends
