Sounds like funKip wrote:Hmm. We've figured out that there's some type of spring loaded pressure switch at the pump that is malfunctioning. We can tap it and it will cycle the pump on....for one cycle. After it cuts off, the switch no longer works again. So, we have water a bit at a time until we get someone who can fix it.

Besides the angry little mosquitoes, there's some type of being insect whose bites pop up into blisters and peel to bleed. Not a fan...

Re: Big Day
Had our first run in with the local petty criminals. Our friends upstairs had a couple bicycles stored in a small room off the back of our house. Someone came in during the night and took them. Somehow they lifted bikes over a 7' wall and climbed back out about 10 feet from my open bedroom window without waking me up...

Ugh, what terrible news. Is this a common thing? Was the room locked or just secured by the exterior wall?Kip wrote:Had our first run in with the local petty criminals. Re: Big Day
It's a room that's connected to the house by walls, but with its own exterior exit. Technically, it's called the "maid's quarters" here, but it's essentially a 7'x10' storage room for us. The door for it has no bars, so access is easy knocking in a wooden door. We're gringos, so there's an automatic target on us...not for racist reasons, but because in the eyes of the general population all Americans are millionaires. They probably don't realize we're broke missionaries
. That certainly doesn't justify theft, but explains the mentality behind it. Since we're assumed to be wealthy, prevailing perception would be that we'd not be impacted by it. We live in an Urbanizacion rather than the Barrio, so the neighborhood is quiet and safe for the most part. Our friends have been here for 10 months and this is the first issue. I feel relatively safe.

Well, that kinda sucks. You need some local "muscle." I'd start with hiring a few thousand of those bleeding blister inducing bugs...

Re: Big Day
Absolutely knocked sideways by a stomach bug. I've been this sick *very* few times in my life. Ugh.
