Smoked some Bayou Morning flake this afternoon while out and about for work. Bayou morning flake is a very strong Va/Per with Perique making up 25% of the blend. It was tasty but a bit too strong for me this afternoon. The nicotine was getting to me. Had to stop and get a Dr. Pepper.
I’m finishing the evening with a bowl of Dunhill Elizbethan Mixture. This is a light Va/Per. It’s got a lot of natural honey like sweetness, a little hay and slightly bready. The Perique is definitely a condiment in the blend. Lightly figgy, not much spice. Not much nicotine. Very nice smoke!
Edit: The nicotine sneaks up on you towards the end of the bowl on the Elizbethan mix. Didn’t give me the spins or sweats, but a nice little kick.

Rather enjoying Charing Cross in this Ser Jacopo Delecta. Actually, enjoying isn't a strong enough word. Since recording the other night, I've found that this pipe and blend are one of those rare, inexplicable marriages of briar and leaf that hits on all 12 cylinders. It's....in a word...delightful.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I got to smoke a couple special tobaccos last night. I purchased some aged tins from someone. This was my first experience with aged tobaccos.
The first one was a tin of Capstan blue ready rubbed from Jan 2013. I don’t smoke a lot of straight Virginia’s, and I’ve never had Capstan before this. It was incredibly delicious when aged!
The second one is a tin of HH old dark fired from 2012. This is a burley heavy blend. But, it aged nicely. I have had this one “fresh”. Not much change to me with 7 years of age on it. But it was a very nice smoke.
I have one more can of hearth and Home Rolandos own mix from Jan 2013 which is a Virginia Perique blend. I can’t wait to see how this one is! I’ll open it up one of these days

Packed and puffed on 1/2 bowl of this John Bull in the Grabow during some rather nasty wind a few nights back which later became a storm.

Varying stand size is cool. A "pen" lighter is cooler and Kombucha with anything besides air is ballsy. Always fun to see these picssmokinsteve wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 10:28 pmBayou Morning and Kombucha for my evenings relaxation.
