What are your thoughts?

I have bought many things pipe related from them since their inception well over a decade ago (maybe even close to 15 years at this point). Never a problem. I have no connection to them outside being a happy customer, and will say they really are the industry standard for my money. Granted, my buying is greatly reduced these days (one small order per year, versus 6-10 larger orders per year back in the day).

Specifically concerning estate pipes - you'll pay these guys more than you would via eBay or an individual....BUT, 1) you know the pipe has been examined thoroughly and 2) described accurately in the listing. They also 3) have them cleaned up well. You won't get grungy old chunks of garbage. I believe 4) you can return it if there's an issue as well (but I wouldn't know....never had an issue).

As a side note, I notice a lot of "drift" in their inventory since my heyday. In the past, a $1000 pipe was very, very rare. These days you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one. Like with many other "crafts", I blame the hipsters for populating and supporting a market that need not exist :)

Thanks for the info Kip! I have recently purchased some tobacco and other trinkets from them. Like the company so far. Wasn’t sure about their estate pipes. I will definitely be buying an estate briar or two from them. I like the idea that the pipes are inspected and cleaned. I have zero experience with estate pipes, especially cleaning and restoring them.

Those are cool pipes, and have been generating *a lot* of rave reviews and utter joy at their value in terms of bang for the buck. I'm not in the market for a pipe right now, but if I were I'd definitely give these a try. The pics and stories I've seen are beyond impressive for a $40 pipe. I really dig the finish and he has a crapton of interesting shapes as well.

As another rabbit trail / side note, what do you think of the Erinmore? It has historically been one of the most controversial and polarizing blends. It, along with Dunhill's Royal Yacht, have few half hearted fans. People tend to love it or loathe it...abd both camps are quite vocal in their opinions.

I really like Erinmore flake. I’m still pretty limited on the depth of VA blends that I have tried. But erinmore is on the top of the list for me. Now, I’m not going to say it’s life changing or anything. But, for me, it’s a solid smoke. Haven’t tried Royal Yacht. Still want to try Marlin Flake if I can ever get my hands on some.

Smoking some Key Largo in a cheapish Rossi (that smokes wonderfully) while watching The Walking Dead. Great weekend wrap up!

On a side note. I accidentally bought a 100 gram tin of Erinmore mixture from my local tobacconist today thinking it was Erinmore Flake. Oops! I guess I’ll have to see if it’s any good.
