I had the "opportunity" to eat chicken feet with some Chinese customers ... all I can say is why waste the time and not again.

Apparently they're almost all collagen and good for the skin. I think I'd prefer to die a shriveled old leather-skinned dude.

I'm in Fort Myers. Lost power 930 Sun AM. Eye passed about 7 miles east of my house around 7pm. We rode it out at home. No structural damage but tons of trees down. We just got power back late last night. Been hard to find gas. Most street lights are down so driving is scary.

We got VERY lucky. Storm weakened rapidly after it hit land on Marco Island. I could see on my cell phone it was coming right at us. Pucker factor 10. If it hadn't weakened this would be a war zone up here.

I'm freezing all my cigars as we speak, they have been in a no AC house for 6 days.

Wow. I have family in Ft.Myers. Just SE of the river in an, apparent, low area. They fared well enough. Stayed in town at a commercial building their friend owns. Brought their animals, stayed a story above ground and had enough buffer space to not be sweltering when power was lost for some time. I can only imagine how things fared for you after having heard their stories. I'm glad you made it through. I hadn't remembered you were in Florida.

Thankfully we were spared anything bad from Irma. I'm a little concerned with this one though. From 8pm-9pm it took a 5 degrees more western bent to its track. Puerto Rico is a good buffer for the DR. It is usually spared from big storms historically, but of those that do hit it, those that hit on its Northern shore tend to bounce north (because of the mountains steering impact). Those that hit from the southern side tend to bounce into a southern wobble and come straight over the DR. Just a few miles either way makes a difference. We'll see by morning I suppose.

Well, the wobble will remain unknown til tomorrow. The forecast track is literally right down the centerline of the area where it could go either way. Regardless, we're going to get more from Maria than Irma. I'm sure we'll at least have a few days without power. If it bounces southward (which would mean a more western track), that's going to be very bad for the DR. Folks are very nervous because of Maria's similarity to Georges which killed many many people and destroyed a large part of the infrastructure and industry here.
