Noon satellite image, with color intensity faded to see the geography better.

Wind is basically a non-issue for us so far. Plenty of it, but none dangerous. The eastern portions of the country look to have had more. I'm seeing pics of washed-away piers, damaged houses, downed trees, etc. Even then, not much from the wind.

Flooding around me specifically isn't much. I'm waiting to see what has happened around the typical problem areas. I know Puerto Plata/Sosúa have probably been underwater for a while now. I'm sure the mountains are washing out as we speak.

Well, perhaps this gives me one more reason to return.

Ah, yup. There it is. All the backing out and such. Just because you arein a devastating situation, you just up and walk out on your primary responsibilities. Wow, and I thought you two were professional podcasters. Haha
Hope everything is well for you and your family Kip.

All is good for us. The eastern tip of the country is all that got severe damage. Mostly downed trees, localized flooding, etc. here. Typical tropical storm stuff. We didn't even see any hurricane force wind in Santiago. Palo Alto was mostly OK, although the old lady in the community lost her house. We're going to survey what it'll take to get her back up and under roof. Besides that, only a few buildings up there were the extent of the damage because they're on the crest of the mountains that separate me from the ocean. The winds sweep up the range and across their houses. I'm surprised more weren't lost, considering the construction material and method.
