Weird this conversation took this turn. Civilization Revolution just went retro on the xBox One. I'd had it on the 360, but they had never made the game backward compatible until recently and I just began playing again this week.

Yeah, I bought it a couple years ago on super cheapo closeout for $5 and thought it was good, but lacking. I still have and play Civ III. Man I love that game, I can't figure out why. I also can't beat it. That might be part of the allure. I know the game, follow strategy, have a game plan. Everything goes really well, then I come to the space deadline and lose. Or, I end up being destroyed militarily. I love it and the challenge is always fresh. Have you played 6 yet?
No, haven't played 6. I have been a big fan since Civ 3 as well. I usually play the Russians so I can build up faster, and then crush everyone before the space age hahaha. I need to play online with someone as it is fun, but playing against a live opponent would be best.

Wait, the russians can gear up faster? I'm usually American so I can scout as much territory as possible for those "tribal" bonus villages.

Not being a console gamer I don't really know that I'm understanding fully. Is Revolution able to play multiple versions of the game? Now you can play III again?

They have the extra bonus of production increases from strategic resources plus iron ( a big deal) and a couple other things are double. You almost never run out of iron, which helps in early game pushing.

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. - Raul Julia

I loved Civ Rev! So simple a chimp can play.. then you bump the difficulty and watch out! Let me know if you want to team up or play a match sometime Kip.

Revolution was a stripped down simplified version of Civ that could be "quick played" I mean it still took hours, just not days. It is super fun and easy and while it started as a console game I am pretty sure one can find it for PC.
