Re: Cigar(s) O' the Day
Sorry @kurtdesign1 but this Gran Habano #5 is not doing anything for me. At all. In any way. Yuck.

Re: Cigar(s) O' the Day
I've been really turned off by gran habano lately. I used to really enjoy the #5, vintage 2002, and the Corojo #3. But the last #5 and last BUNDLE of vintage 2002s I smoked were inconsistent at best

I'm smoking a Matilde tonight. It's my first one. Pretty good so far.
Smoke on!

Tonights Delight.
One of my all time favorite NC's;
Tat Miami Havana Cazadore
The wrapper has been damaged with rolling around in the box, but it still tastes so good !

This info is from only one source, so take it all with a grain of salt.kurtdesign1 wrote:More to come on that later.
Apparently their corojo crops (grown in Jalapa) have not been as pristine as they'd expected. Also, some people affiliated are fearful that the dealings with large retailers have damaged brand perception.
I can only speculate but it's widely been thought that brands like RP or CAO have changed their blends for mailorder. The "damage" above reasonably could be attributed to the same thing. Ian commented that the last "bundle" he had was "inconsistent at best". I'd be willing to bet that bundle came from CI or some sort of secondary market initially sourced from CI.
GH's talent is great. That's why I had private label cigars with them. I think they (the entire company) were in a bit of a funk and are now emerging. The Deli, "STK" releases and a few recent production products I've sourced from the factory have all been stellar. It may be time to revisit them in 2015 if you've had bad luck. I'm pretty sure things will be turning around.
