No photos but I lit a Romeo Wide Churchill while enjoying the Cubs on Saturday night. I met a listener at a Schaumburg cigar lounge. It was passable. Big on Cuban Romeo twang, light on burn quality. The wrapper was slightly cracked but it shouldn't have had the issues it did. The binder must also have been broken. Shame.

Also burned another Hoyo Anejados Hermoso#4. This one was not as good as the others. It seemed to have that generic aged Habano (tobacco not cigar) flavor. There was Hoyo in it but it was masked partially. I'm hoping these are more like the formers than the latter.

Couple bowls of the ol' Toby. One small Margate and one from a tin I no longer recall. The Tin'd tobacco was so fruity it reminded me of dried cherries or raisins by the aroma. Very very enjoyable, and the disc of pressed tobacco was beautiful prior to prepping it. Very fun.

Just a guess, but I'd be that was Escudo based on aroma (it has perique in it) and presentation. Good stuff, and much easier to get these days than it was 10 years ago. I haven't smoked any from recent years' vintage because I stocked up at the time, but I really like the stuff with some time in the tin. It gets darker, more suave, and more "raisiny" with time - and I haven't found the upper limit yet. I've smoked it up to about 20 years of age, and haven't had it be over-the-hill.

I adore Cuban La Glorias. They tend to feel a bit "closed" before they've aged enough. I hope flavors came through on that badboy.

A La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro. Simply put, it is the best meaty, savory, "hard" flavored cigar I can ever recall having. Lovely. Truly lovely.

Cigarro del dia - numero cinco

First RoMa ever. The Connecticut was so flavorful; bread-y, subtle spice, and honey.

Reminds me of something my father does to the honey he buys: he grows hot peppers in his garden, and when he finds a nice bottle of small-batch honey, he'll slice a couple of peppers and throw it in there -- seeds and all. The spice isn't over-powering, still enough to know that it's there. Spread that over toast and IT IS THIS CIGAR!

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. - Raul Julia
