The tobacco was tamped below the rim of the bowl before the charring light. Once I put flame to it the tobacco expanded like crazy!kurtdesign1 wrote:As a non pipe smoker that looks like one HELLUVA full bowl!smokinsteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 10:52 pmSmoking some Marlin tonight

Speaking anecdotally and with no science whatsoever, my perception has always been one of appreciation when it expands so much, because it seems corrolated with proper humidity. Too little expansion seems to happen for me with wet tobacco, and tobacco that smokes best seems to expand a lot when lighting.smokinsteve wrote:The tobacco was tamped below the rim of the bowl before the charring light. That's always good info. It's akin to the cigar cut where a "dimple" falls out of the head after you remove the cutterKip wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 12:10 pmSpeaking anecdotally and with no science whatsoever, my perception has always been one of appreciation when it expands so much, because it seems corrolated with proper humidity. Hmm that’s interesting. I guess I haven’t payed attention to that. The bowl did smoke very well!Kip wrote:Speaking anecdotally and with no science whatsoever, my perception has always been one of appreciation when it expands so much, because it seems corrolated with proper humidity. Re: Whats in your bowl?
For those of you posting can you all please tell me a little something about the blends you're lighting up? Virginia, English, vintage, fresh, dried, right out of the tin, etc.
Thanks! I'm always interested to gleam pipe knowledge as an appreciator but not anywhere near an expert.
