Not as fancy as what Kip has been posting. Actually a free shipping add on at checkout  :P

Actually if I had let it dry out before smoking it would have been perfect even still little to no real 'bite' and nice flavor off of this free shipping add on from an order a ways back. I would order it again which I believe is the real test for a person on quality. Actually now that I am thinking on it if another 1/2 ashed pipe show is in the works... a show on cobs would be interesting. The cob pipe is very much a part of Americana. Just think of the cob touting patriots:

Interesting tidbit on MacArthur....the cob pipe was largely a PR fabrication to make him more relatable to the masses. His chosen tobacco was almost exclusively in the form of Filipino cigars and cigarettes.

Ric Farrah at Briarville in Florida. I think he done a great job. The shank broke while trying to remove the stem. He had to fix that and then band it. Smokes like a dream though. Now to put it up for special occasions.

That's awesome. These guys are craftsmen the world will be missing in a couple generations. Or at least the world won't know what they're missing...

I opened a 9 year old tin of C&D's Habana Daydream this morning. The aroma was magical. It hissed out of the tin like fragrant, sweet incense.

That was then.

Once I put fire to it, it's character fizzled. It's not bad per se; there's just nothing remarkable - or even entertaining - about it. There's an occasional wisp of a cigar like flavor, but otherwise it's pretty nondescript. Almost bland, even. Cornell and Diehl make some phenomenal blends, but for my tastes this one didn't hold up well to time. I'm not sorry I only put away 2 tins of it. Image

Serious question: Could you cut it with shavings from a cigar to amp up the flavor?

Certainly. I'm going to have to do something. I tried it in another pipe as a control and got the same - if not worse - result. Still bland, but with a little more ashen flavor. I may just use it as a base for experimentation.
