Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. - Raul Julia

The weather has been garbage since Easter. April fools on my long weekend I guess. I did however manage to smoke 1/2 a colmado stick and this Fiesta stick from Mike Stew during a mild rain on Tuesday. Shoutout to the Easter Bunny for the Reece's Egg cigar rest.

How'd she smoke, Zed? I assume that's from the buy? My guess is too weak for you. If you liked the T52s I'm betting that 5+ years of age will numb the parts you enjoyed. Inquiring minds!

I'm unfamiliar with the Fiesta. What is it? @Stewmuse, feel free to jump in, too.

The Fiesta is the sole remaining cigar I roll that uses Kentucky fire-cured tobacco. Also contains some Brazilian habano, CT broadleaf, and Nicaraguan ligero.

It was all the things I like about the T52, and none of the bad. Sure, it may be too light for most regular smokers of these. I am not a regular smoker of this line, and thus don't want those bold, in-your-face agressive flavors. White pepper was the dominant profile, but there was other parts of great tobacco. I originally smoked a T52 Toro back in 2011 from a friend, and fell in love with that profile. It was still there, but with no extras holding it down. Amazing cigar, for an NC (hahaha), and I am glad I have a few more.
I decided to smoke the most damaged one first.

Last Nights Delight.

Liga No.9 Beli 2011'ish

I have always wondered how well NC's would age. These last 2 Ligas are fine examples of what happens to great tobacco. This representation was smooth as all get-out. Could retrohale almost the entire mouthfull. Sweet broadleaf, which was great, coco, almond flour (not almonds as it was like a very light flavor) and a bit of almost like the charred end of a pork chop.
Was a great cigar, considering I have never liked this blend before.
Also smoked the most damaged of the 9s in this sitting. Was split in the middle of the cigar for about 1.5". Could suck air through it. Image

Nice cigar, normally smokey and a bit sweet, with a good room note at times. When ‘on’ they can take me to a backyard bbq/firepit state of mind. Mike already posted the rest about the cigar above. I am pretty sure you may have one somewhere in your humidor Kurt. ;)

Holy crap! The way you're describing both of those LPs makes me almost want to smoke one. I enjoyed the #9s i've had with some rest. Initially I even thought they were a little burned tasting and abrupt. Think about the knock on Starbucks coffee being over roasted to maintain a consistancy in flavor among the millions of pounds sold each day. With some time that edge mellowed out to reveal either a softening of that "burned" flavor or an emergence of other flavors to have more of an opportunity to shine

The Starbucks analogy is a good one. The Ligas do, when young, have some real powerful strength to them. With that age comes a wonderful mellowing and mixing of flavors, but not so much as to take everything away. I would also liken it to Cuban tobacco before the mid 2000s. Had to be aged to enjoy. It came out too sharp. Put 5-10 years on that "Bad Boy" and you have a wonderful cigar. This gives me that same sense.

I have a few more of each, and will enjoy smoking through them.
One thing; I wonder if the tobacco from those crops is more to credit the flavor than just aging alone. We shall never know as the next years crops were not the exact same conditions...
