Kip, meet dumpster fire, immigration style. What a complete hassle and stress-inducer. Perhaps get Amado to write you a note. That seems to fix most everything else down there.

And good luck...

At airports in the US, Dominicans are pressured to sign a resignation from their residence

Many, even without a criminal record, have been asked to sign the document and return to the Dominican Republic on the available next flight

NY. Dozens of Dominicans and Dominicans returning from their country to the United States are being intercepted and interrogated for long hours by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, who, after being asked all the questions, offer them the criticized form 407, which is used to give up residence.

Many, even without a criminal record, have been asked to sign the document and return to the Dominican Republic on the next available flight to be paid for by the United States government.

In greater numbers, the situation is verified in the John F. Kennedy, Liberty in Newark (New Jersey) and Logan (Boston) airports.

Also in Miami and other states in which Dominican communities of large population reside.

The ICE check is done from the corridors that connect with the tunnels that lead to the boarding and departure of the aircraft.

This reporter, who returned on January 24 from the Dominican Republic on a Delta flight, observed four ICE officials, clutching the aisle, and each passenger was asked about the departure and re-entry of the trip and what he was doing in his native country .

That question, although routine for many years in the immigration windows, is also being implemented in the corridors of the terminals and before travelers arrive at the official check-up area and before the immigration officers.

A young woman, who declined to identify herself, told this reporter that she returned from the immigration window the previous Friday from the previous week to the second supervisory area, where she was held for five hours.

Officials urged her to sign Form 407, but she flatly refused.

"I was fed up with repeated questions, they gave me that form that I refused, telling them that I could not sign it, because I do not speak or write English and they showed me the customs entry ticket, filled in the computer, before queuing for the checkup , Claiming that I had filled it in English, although it is true, I evaded them, telling them that someone filled it for me, "added the complainant.

"They also told me to sign it and to go back to the Dominican Republic, which was for my own good, but I told them that if it was really for my sake, why did not they send it to my house by mail, That I filled it up, "he added.

He says that the ICE officers gave up and sealed the entry by dispatching it.

The case illustrates dozens of other permanent resident Dominicans who have been equally harassed and besieged by US immigration police, following executive orders signed by President Donald Trump.

Suggestion of the Dominican Consulate

Following the denunciations, the consulate general in New York and the Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights have begun a local media campaign Monday, warning criollos with judicial records not to travel to the Dominican Republic.

Did you read that article? Now, the Dominican consulates are involved. How friggin eager are they going to be to grant Americans a visa or residency now?!

Controlling borders is one thing. Harassing people you've already granted legal residence to is idiotic. My own country is shooting me in the foot.

I think it's the podcast. Starbucks got the ball rolling, and your/our pro-cigar-smoking stance has wadded up their panties.

Perhaps we should just make Alec Baldwin president. Maybe no one will notice.

There's a rather large minority in me that thinks Baldwin's picture was used on purpose.

So, today kicks off a new thing for us. Nick and I realize that the older boys at the orphanage we work with have zero positive presence in their lives from an adult male. We're putting together something to try and build this in, and are heading over there this evening to begin getting to know the boys. Most of the kids at this particular orphanage aren't typical "orphans." They often have been removed from abusive situations (which is why the organization protects the kids' privacy, as many have people who'd benefit from their disappearance). Their whole backdrop for adult behavior is negative, which perpetuates bad situations. We want to provide some sort of mentorship. We don't yet know exactly what that looks like, but we're both burdened for these kids and think we have time, resources, and contacts to start something useful. Here's to new hopes and bright futures. I pray it's successful.

Easy. Cigars and dominoes. Maybe some smoked meat sandwiches... ;)

And, of course, your wonderful selves.
