OK...I've improved the page load times by 64.7% and speed ratings by 18.3%. I think that's about the limit of my understanding. I'll quit screwing around with the site now and focus on some content :)

OK, so I was wrong. I haven't stopped screwing around, and I probably won't. I have reworked the pipe tobacco review format to a 10-pt scale (rather than 5 Star scale....pipe tobacco is a different animal, not conducive to the same 100-pt system as cigar guys are used to). By doing this, I was able to eliminate a major offender slowing down parts of the site. That plugin was executing script on every page of the site...even if it wasn't in use on the page! So....long story short: it's gone.

Latest run through pingdom - which uses a different scale than the previous image above. We didn't really drop froma 96 to an 82 :D . I'm happy with sub-1second page loads. Now, to clear out and rebuild the cache so we'll start seeing an improvement in practice and site-wide. Boom.

You'd better be careful. If they get word of these/your skills down in the DR, they'll have you revamping the country's entire web infrastructure!

Boom. It may all fall apart tomorrow, but for now I couldn't be happier with the new hosting....
