I'm all puckered up right now because I've had to give the Visual Composer folks admin rights to the site so they can try to figure out the myriad ways their software has broken Half Ashed....

I think I'm done dinking around with the home page finally. I stripped some of the extra stuff out and kept it on separate pages (mostly "About" info), and added some hover effects to the Reviews, News & Recent Episodes sections (which saved some space by adding excerpts as a hover instead of always showing). It's a bit smaller and speedier than the previous iteration.

I don't have any more brilliant ideas right now :D

I'm finally getting around to some website stuff, including a number of reviews-in-process. I've known for a long time that even though I like the current home page for halfashed.com, it is far too long a page. It's been tough weeding out the information that isn't necessary, but I've been slimming it down a bit and working on a new one. I have a rough draft, which is still subject to a good bit of change before it goes live. I know there are some colors that will probably need to change for visibility's sake, but take a look and see what else might need to change to improve the usability. Here's a link to it, because it isn't tied into the site proper just yet:

Actually, on the home page, the back ground is so bright and busy, it's difficult to read the text. Or maybe it just weirds my eyes out. What if you faded/softened the background shot and used a dark text?

Probably just an Apple thing. Honestly, I don't know what you people see in those things...

I kid, I kid. This is exactly what I have been tinkering with. I really wanted to be able to use this pic, but it's proving difficult. This winter, I'm going to try to get a more suitable one. I just now darkened the pic and put a slight bit more shadow emphasis on the typeface. [It may take a couple hours for the cache to clear so you'll be able to see the changes.] I tried using a dark font but it disappeared completely. I'll keep working on it. I seem never to be able to let well enough alone. Y'all should know that by now

Just an fyi, in case you see any weirdness on the forum. I've been purging old member names that never logged in, or have 0 posts and haven't logged in for the past year. Looks like about 30-35 member names. No posts will be deleted - only those forgotten screen names with no posts. I'm clearing out/resetting the caches and a few other items as well (max members at one time, etc.).
