I am about 3/4 through this book, which has taken me up thru the Great Depression and into the decay of the Tampa cigar industry. This book has been quite educational, esp about the general history of south Florida, and it has not been nearly as cigar-centric as I thought it would be. Lots of history about towns developing, relations between settlers from the north and from Cuba with the established Indian tribes, and the general political atmosphere of the 19th and early 20th centuries.Stewmuse wrote:At first glance, this is a pretty thorough look at tobaco in American since colonial times. Hopefully, it will be a fast-paced read.
