Rum

Post by Zedman05 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:21 pm

I picked this stand up when in Cuba a couple years ago. Looks really cool, but it is a bit too tipsy to leave around with kids in the house.

My favorite rum:

I have a hand carved ornate version of that from a Honduran Market when I was making my first visit to the area. Really, really cool piece.

To all the rum heads — what are your thoughts on Diplomatico?

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. - Raul Julia

Its ok. Only had the one, so I cant give a complete recommendation, but worth a try. Have had worse, especially for the money.

A few friends used to go gaga over the stuff. I like it, I don't love it. I enjoy the cheap white version available at Trader Joes from time to time also. The dark rum version is slightly syrupy and definitely sweet. It makes Zaya seem savory.

I would be remiss if I did not mention Plantation 5yr on this thread. I have been enjoying it with some ice (yes I am a horrible person) for about the last 2 years. A nice sipping and cigar rum that can be had for under $30.

Now I know people only tend to associate my name with The Kraken, and I will still go to bat for it mixed with ginger ale or coke, but this Plantation is truly some nice stuff.
