This was tough. Really tough. Here are some quick pics, as I don't have time to give the run down right now. I'll follow up when I can. Enjoy!

Hooray! But it was fun and tasted great, no? I'm sure you'll do more. I love your use of the cucumber as a wrapper. Make sure the "seam" of the nori is on the bottom when you cut the roll segments. The rice paper is really tough to make attractive because it simply has no rigidity. I hope you two had a fabulous time!

I did have an absolute blast. I had a gift cert to a local meat pervayor (sp?) and picked up the U10-15 shrimp, king crab, 4 oz of sushi and 4 oz of salmon there. Out the door I spent $7! I used some avocado & cucumber, too. The biggest thing I learned was that packing the rice onto the Nori was incredibly important. Too much and it was a starch ball. Not enough and it was lumpy & disgusting. Too messy and it was obviously not visually appealing. Getting the right ratio of protein to starch was tricky, too. I made a massive roll thinking it would be more appropriate when filled to the gills. It just tasted... "overstuffed".
I already appreciated sushi as a cuisine. Attempting to roll it made me appreciate it as an art. Hope you enjoy the pics and background.

I dig it! I had a local friend who used to roll with some regularity...I always loved his creations, but never tried it myself. You guys keep this up and I might just get inspired....

Purveyor. Well done, Craig. And Kip, ya just gotta try the bacon and shrimp roll... Or do you mean rolling your own?

Lol. Kip doesn't strike me for a "roll your own" guy.

I was born & raised in East TN. No one ever believes that I'm not a "roll your own" guy....

There are certain areas of NE TN where the trails have very blatant warnings NOT to wander off the marked trail.
