Review/Raise

As I'm thinking about this I imagine it will be a bit scattered but, what the hell, that's what this place is for. The admins wont kick me off for being a poor communicator, will they?
I'm up for a review today. I've been on the consulting side of energy efficiency for 3-1/2 years now at a small firm near my home. Things are good but my boss is not a big communicator and I can, at times, be left to my own. My work gets done and my clients are pleased but I am worried about down times reflecting bad on my performance. Earlier this year I had quite a bit of that down time so I joined a few local networking groups, cultivated contacts and developed a couple new customers. I'm not normally a "squeaky wheel", so to speak, but I spoke up and requested this review. I haven't had an income adjustment since I started and I've achieved two major industry accreditations. I am all of a sudden becoming a bit of a nuisance, I think. My company truck is also starting to go and will need replacement or heavy repairs this winter. The cat is failing and the check engine light is now permanently on. Plus, my bed has rusted through for a segment of it. Here is where my normally desirable trait of NOT insisting or requesting certain benefits is beginning to backfire. When they get to the point when they NEED to be mentioned, they're all piling up at once.
Ok, pressure valve relieved. I just needed to put some things down on paper to clear my head.

As an American, I thought you all spoke-up. You sound a lot like me, until I got to this company I work for now. I have watched the older J-men act like they had all kinds of rights and wouldn't put up with shit, when I was a young apprentice and marvelled at how they stood up for themselves. Now I see why; the company usually doesn't do things maliciously, they just keep the line until something is mentioned. It all depends on how they react to that mention of an issue.
I don't take much shit anymore as it doesn't benefit me or the other techs I work with. If I, as an older experienced tech, can get pushed around, it sets a standard that the younger ones will just fold under any type of pressure.
Keep on pluggin, slugger

The review was postponed until the beginning of this week. Also, extra credit for Office Space references.
