Started my tattoo yesterday. 5 hrs of linework. Ran out of time.
The purple sections still need to be outlined, then shading starts in 3 weeks.

In seriousness, since the crest and tail look all "firey", I'm assuming it is a phoenix. Is this a personal symbol, or just because it's a cool image? You don't have to share any background, of course; I'm just always curious about folks' ink.

Yes. Japanese Phoenix. Going to have red and grey in it, but that will come later.
Phoenix is a metephor for rebirth and conquering change.
Cool that you picked out what it was right away.
As for the cost; I still don't even know. It's a pay-as-you-go piece. He thinks it should be around 5 sessions in total.

Some day I need to get mine touched up, especially the Fuente band. Despite my best efforts with sunblock, the yellow has almost disappeared and the red is fading. The artist I used gives free lifetime touch-ups. I just need to make it happen.

Just actually went in for my 4th yesterday. Will post when second skin is off.
