going after big cola..wait what?

Post by 815DC » Thu Jan 26, 2017 11:25 pm

That's right Coke is being gone after just like tobacco. It is finally happening. I recall a mild scare for the world of carbonated sugar when Pepsi had its coloring agent exposed as carcinogenic, but now its about "falsely leading poor joe public to believe soda isn't bad for you".

Our nanny state mentality is getting worse everyday but in reality the revenue they need from taxes on tobacco could probably be more if they would just reduce the subsidy on HFCS .... they wouldn't even have to call it a tax on soda.

I am not a math wizard but a $0.01 tax on millions probably gains more than a $0.40 tax on thousands. I know, I know, my logic has no place here.

Didn't New York implement a hefty tax on this last year? Looks like that primer went through smooth enough that some think its a sure way to bring in additional funding in the future. Sigh.

Regulate things that matter, like business impacts on the environment. Don't regulate personal choices.
