Dominican Republic visit - REDUX!!!

That is the great hope. We went up Sunday and...made it. It wasn't easy; it took twice the normal time, some truly dangerous passages, and two car repairs on the fly in calf-deep mud. But, we made it. Unless it gets too crazy, we'll plan on a day or two up there. If it stays somewhat dry it shouldn't be too bad by then. We're going to try and do some more cement work (we're most of the way up the 2nd hill), as well as distribute some water filters. Of course, if the road completely falls off, we'll be staring at each other across a domino table all week....

I honestly don't know which option to be rooting for.

Oh, I do... or maybe i'll just pack a backhoe and a small dump truck (In my carry-on, of course, cuz one certainly can't check those. The baggage handlers will break them.) and we'll just create our own, new route.

Just an FYI on that....I'm not sure whether you packed the filters in a checked bag or carry on, but it may be better checked. The Slagles brought a couple and were given some extra attention on the US side in Tampa. TSA harrassed them a bit because they (TSA) weren't sure what they were.

It's all good. I packed 'em up in my brightly labeled "ACE Crystal Meth Purification Kits" ("New & Improved!!!") box. Shouldn't have any issues...

Not sure I've ever shown that little ashtray here. It's an actual ash....tray. Made of ash from Mt. Pinatubo. It was made with cigarettes in mind, but works swimmingly for small spots like a domino table. I dig it.
