I got one of the biggest compliments this week. Every day, there's a dude who sells steamed corn on the cob out of ziploc bags at the intersection where I turn to pick up Kristi and the kids. I chat with him while I wait for the light pretty often. He asked if I was 'boricua' (Puerto Rican) this week. He could tell I wasn't a native Dominican, but spoke well enough he thought I was Latino in our brief conversations. I've heard similar things before, usually from someone who has something to potentially gain from me - which leads me to take the comment with a grain of salt. But, I've never bought his corn, nor given any indication I was in the market. It was (at least in my mind) an unsolicited, motive-neutral comment. I'll take it.

'I found their bathroom. It's behind their house. It has no roof.'

Just one of the many things you hear in exchanges with my cohorts at the end of any given day.

I haven't been posting a buttload of pics lately, so I thought I'd go through a few recent ones and post a few this weekend.

For those who don't' know, the poinsettias you buy around Christmas time are purposely stunted. In their natural state, they get quite big. For scale, Amado (pictured) is about 6' tall.
