Sorry, but they were too uneven in their quality. Your closing line was the best.

Today would have been my Dad's 63rd birthday. Even though he's been gone over 3 years, I still miss him a lot. I don't still mourn, or grieve the loss; I'm long into acceptance. I just seem to increasingly have moments when I am reminded how much I wish he was still around. I'd love for him to have been able to come down and love on the kids in the communities where we work. He couldn't have communicated a single word, but he - and they - would have had an amazing time. I constantly need his advice on car or household maintenance troubles. I was pretty competent in Florida, when I had tools and money to just fix whatever came up. These days, there's a ridiculous amount of improvisation needed, and he was a master at that. In what seems to be an annual reminder (unwanted as it may be) for those of you who still have your Dad, call him up. Take advantage of the opportunity to get some useful advice. Let him know you are grateful and love him. Pardon the language, but if you don't you're a fucking asshole.

On to lighter topics.... I just found hickory chips at a supermarket. More difficult to manage than chunks, but I'll take it. There will be NC pulled pork BBQ come Christmas Eve. Hoowahh!!

There's not too many finer things to me than Kip who removes the filter. Much to be learned by us all. Here is a prime example. Keep 'em comin, Kipper. You haven't been wrong yet when the hot takes are thrown about.

Frickin' cold this morning. Had to drag out a musty old sweatshirt.

I'm wearing a T-shirt, a long sleeve T-shirt, A sweatshirt, a hooded sweatshirt, a jacket, a pair of gloves and a winter hat. You're dead to me.

For the record, I was totally NOT kidding. I had on long pants, thermal socks, a long sleeve T, and sweatshirt. It felt very cold.

Once again, I "SMH" at you...
But to be honest, it can be worse for me too. That place I visited this summer (Cambridge Bay, Nunavut) gets to be -40 - -50 for a month straight in the winters. Compared to that, we are balmy...
