Re: Big Day
I'm in North Carolina this week and week end for a wedding. We're supposed to be flying back sunday morning. I dont think that's going to happen. I'm rapidly booking a hotel room for Sunday night so we can have somewhere to stay other than the airport. The last thing I need is a weekend in the terminal with two kids and a very happy, not at all crabby wife. ...

Re: Big Day
We've been getting the bands all day, but it looks like the majority of our share will be overnight (my not-so-educated review of satellite imagery shows a fairly potent cell just south of us heading this way). The funniest thing in the world are all of our cohorts....who aren't accustomed. Kristi and I have experienced our fair share of tropical storms and a handful of Grade I & II hurricanes. These folks from interior US locales are losing their minds as if Matthew has a bead on Santiago. The anxious-bordering-on-panic look in their eyes is cute.
Don't misunderstand; this is a very serious storm, but the impact on Santiago should be very minor.

Sounds like a great time to hang out on a covered patio/deck/balcony with a box of your favorites!Kip wrote:Nothing but steady rain and light winds all night.....

Re: Big Day
Kip is perfectly describing myself and Elly, planning crazily for backup hotel rooms in case we are evacuated from the Outer Banks and if our flight is canceled. It's humorous how much we're thinking about this potential that is likely to just be another storm. Serious yes, but we've experienced tornados & the like numerous times. Since this is called somethign different, we're a little out of sorts. Commence the laughter.Kip wrote:The funniest thing in the world are all of our cohorts....who aren't accustomed. On that note, I'm signing off and heading out east. I will try to log in if and when I get an opportunity. I bid you all farewell! Good luck, Kipper!

Hey @stewmuse ..... you'll be happy to hear that Gracesque's driveway is now concrete from the road all the way to his house and has begun marching up the hill toward Eagle's Nest. We haven't worked on it personally in a while, but there have been a couple other groups and the Gracesque family working. They're moving along....one bag of cement at a time. I'll try to remember to grab a few pictures or video this week.

Re: Big Day
Very good! I haven't had any formal discussions with my wife yet, but I'm leaning toward returning after the new year, if you'll have me. It also depends on her vacation schedule, as she started a new job month ago and doesn't have quite the freedom she did with her last job. Those discussions will happen soon.Kip wrote:Hey @stewmuse ..... you'll be happy to hear that Gracesque's driveway is now concrete from the road all the way to his house and has begun marching up the hill toward Eagle's Nest. And that is NOT how I imagined his name to be spelled... at ALL.

Re: Big Day
Excelente! I know we have a group down from December 28 through January 4, and another around Easter - but other than that we're pretty wide open I believe.
