Crap-tastic turnaround!

Post by IWinchester » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:40 pm

So I had a rough day at work. The factory is a little behind deadlines, new people are being trained, and micromanagement has apparently become the proposed solution to get back on track. I say, poo on all that.

I've been shuffled around all week because I have seniority and can help in multiple departments, but this wreaks havoc on my efficiency AND my patience. Add a nitpicking manager to the mix and you can start to see where I'm heading.

The last thing I wants after work was to go home and be Dad. Fishing, yelling at strangers, and maybe drinking seemed more apropos.

However, after work I got in my car, turned up some Allman Brothers, and lit an Illusione Rothchildes. BANG!! The sweet baking spice hit my palate and put my world in perspective. I drove home at 5 miles under the speed limit. I talked out loud to myself about how damn tasty that Illusione was. I even pleasure-groaned a few times. By the second third I couldn't wait to see my wife, help with dinner, and play with my 3 kids.

Are cigars bad for our health? I say no way. Absolutely not. Not in a million years. Is there any other legal thing out there that can give a man this kind of turnaround? No.

So my friends, keep smoking. This hobby we have is an amazing gift to cherish, share, and defend to the death.

Excellent! Glad to hear it turned around for you Hmm....this looks like a good use for a "thumbs-up" icon. I guess I need to go dig one up.

From what I understand, the next version of phpBB (forum software) will include a "Like" function to give some love to any post. I could spend hours trying to make an existing extension work, but I think we'll wait :D

It should be out soon. They're about 4 iterations deep in the BETA testing for the 3.1 version.

Ian, the beautiful thing about your post is that I feel like I lived it. I can feel the exact tension and frustration you describe. I can feel the guilt mixed with self pity about the want to serve yourself instead of your family. I can feel the regret or anger over your own dedication to being a better employee and knowing multiple facets of your business may have contributed to that same business bringing you down. I get it.

I also get the power of the cigar. I love it. I live it. I dig your post for making me feel it...
