. This little beetle was in an epernay I got there yesterday. Luckily they never entered my humi. But now I must run extensive tests on this specimen to see if all the beetle info out there is true. Lol. Damn engineers. We must test and test more.

Luckily I rarely go to this shop and have nothing in my humis from them. And another reason all long term sticks go through a freeze cycle before I put them in the humidor.

I'm just gonna start keeping spiders in with my sticks. What's a little extra "plume" (webbing) compared to holes?

So curiosity got the best of me and I had to take apart the cigar. Well I found three larve inside the stick among the filler leaf. The pics are of two of them and one of the only visible hole anywhere on the cigar. Which was on the binder. The wrapper leaf was perfectly in tact. Which is consistent with my beliefs that if you ever saw holes in your sticks you are probably screwed already. Now my question is did these get introduced in the factory or in the shop. I guess it doesn't really matter but that shop may have an infestation problem now in this humidor at least.

My understanding is that the eggs are usually on the leaf. Whenever they come out of dormancy & hatch, the larvae eat their way out of the cigar.

I thought so too Kip but after reading online more these suckers can fly and only can eat the tobacco for a short time but leave stuff on the lead for future generations. They live 2-6 weeks. Just long enough to reproduce the little bastards.

Not a fan. I heard a few "crackles" while smokig a bundle stick a while back and had to put the stick down after visions of boiling larve entered my mind…
