This was my only tin of it...and I'd never smoked it before. I'm not one to waste tobacco, and it's passable. I'll finish the tin out.
Well THAT makes complete sense. I thought you knew you disliked it but reached for it regardless. Ok, ok. Carry on. I can get the idea of finishing the tin but would think that putting it down for a few months might be a better decision to see if any progression makes it more palatable.
I thought that once you opened the container, efficiency of consumption was important...
You are correct. The essence escapes (or at least changes) once air is re-introduced into the tin.

Camacho Barrel Aged. When I first had this cigar almost two years (or so) ago, i was really pleased. That pleasure, though, has dimished quite a bit since then. It's a somewhat "hard" flavored smoke (not as much heavy as, say, a Partagas Black) and just doesn't bring much to the table, especially for its price tag. At least, I paired it with an equally unpleasant horror film, "Talon Falls." Not as extreme as "Hostel" or any of the "Saw" sequels, but definitely working toward the "torture porn" genre. No, thank you.

With the time of year I would think you would be neck deep in the Gingerdead Man series.

*Bare in mind that Kip is the resident expert here*
The aging process steadily "improves" whilst in a sealed tin. The transition does not stop after being opened, it's aggressively accellerated. The growth of complexity & balance heeds the power of erosion and decay. Flavor isn't lost completely after it's been opened, the benefits and improvement (in a traditional manner) of aging cease, while the tobacco still transitions from its oxygen exposure. Anaerobic vs aerobic, slow vs fast, suave vs "dirty" (not good dirty).

Oh, that might turn out to be pretty good! How many stray dogs are just sitting and drooling outside your drive entrance? Heck, how many of your friends are doing the same? Or strangers?

The past weeks Delights

HdM No.2 '17

Wonderful. Creamy. Spicy, but without the pepper.

Famous Nic 3000 Torpedo '15

These were great. I enjoyed every last one from this now-done bundle. Would buy more. Smoked this one while flooding the rink one night. Made an excellent companion.
When fresh, these were pretty good, but over time, that spiciness died down, which really helped these IMO.

JL No.2 Apr '17

Opened this new box last week. Gave it at least a few days before diving in...
Pretty good. More sweetness than the 1s, and a bit lighter in flavor, but can't wait for the 2 year mark on these.

Todays Delight.

About to watch the World Juniors.
I get more excited about this time of year more than the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The most magical time of the year !

HdM No.2

Had a cigar with a comedian friend from the States. He was here doing his thing on stage this past week. We sat down and had a cigar after. He has never really had a real cigar, but wanted to get into it for a bit now. So I introduced him to an Alex Gonzalez Corona. He LOVED it. It was fun listening to him as his excitrment of how "cool" it was to smoke a cigar. As someone who smokes all the time, the "cool" factor wore off a long time ago, but it was really fun teaching how to cut a cigar, what to do if a cigar burns wierd, how to light a cigar, all the different little things.
Made sure he also had a couple cigars for back home, now that he was interested, and knew he would enjoy them.
I love helping out, and spreading the knowledge.

My first - but neither my favorite nor best carved - meerschaum, a lab w/duck carved by Yunus. I just dug it out and discovered that some time in the past I left two, 1/4" sections of unsmoked cigar in it. Time to rub them out and see what a bit of incredibly dried out, indeterminate cigar leaf tastes like. Image
