Cigar News: Crowned Heads to release "Jericho Hill"

The gents at Crowned Heads took to social media outlets and their blog today with news of their fourth regular production release to date, the Jericho Hill.  The line takes its inspiration from influential musician Johnny Cash, specifically from Cash’s version of “Cocaine Blues,” a song rendered from the traditional “Little Sadie” by T.J. Arnall¹.  The song was featured on 1968’s “At Folsom Prison”, and is the story of Willy Lee – a fugitive captured in Juarez, Mexico by the sheriff of Jericho Hill for his crimes under the influence of cocaine and whiskey.

The allusions made to the song, and Johnny Cash, in this cigar line are many:  Cash was the 4th of seven children; Jericho Hill is the fourth production line from Crowned Heads.  The dark, Mexican wrapper is a nod to “The Man in Black,” and the fact that the character in the song is captured in Mexico.  Additionally, all four vitola names – .44S, LBV, OBS, and Willy Lee –  “were all inspired by lyrics and music found on “At Folsom Prison,” and when recited from smallest to largest (.44S, LBV, OBS, and Willy Lee), take on a lyrical element of their own.”

Besides the Mexican wrapper, Jericho Hill is comprised of Nicaraguan binder and filler leaf.  Per the Crowned Heads post, it is intended to be powerful, intense, and exciting.  The line is manufactured at My Father Cigars S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua and distributed by Crowned Heads, LLC.
